Development history of surfboard

    As early as 1778, Captain J. cook, a British explorer, had seen such activities among local residents in the Hawaiian Islands. After 1908, surfing spread to some European and American countries. It spread to Asia after 1960. In the past one or two decades, surfing has developed greatly. Large-scale surfing competitions have been held in North America, Peru, Hawaii, South Africa and the eastern coast of Australia.
    Surfing is driven by waves and should be carried out on the beach with wind and waves. The height of the wave should be about 1m, and the minimum should be no less than 30cm. Hawaiian Islands have waves suitable for surfing all year round, especially in winter or spring. Waves from the North Pacific are up to 4 meters high, which can make athletes slide more than 800 meters. Therefore, the Hawaiian Islands have always been the center of surfing in the world.
    The original surfboard is about 5 meters long and weighs 50 ~ 60 kg. After the Second World War, foamed plastic plates appeared, and the shape of the boards improved. The current surfboard is 1.5 ~ 2.7 meters long, about 60 cm wide and 7 ~ 10 cm thick. The board is light and flat, slightly narrow at the front and rear ends, and there are tail fins with stabilizing effect at the rear and lower part. In order to increase the friction, the plate surface is also coated with a waxy outer film. The weight of all surfboards is only 11 ~ 26 kg.
    Humpback whales have some corrugated structures on the front of their wings, which helps the behemoth move more gracefully and smoothly in the water. This structure can help reduce resistance and help the humpback whale "catch" the water flow, so as to ensure that it can move quickly despite its huge body.
